This is Local Gardener

Our family has been involved in horticulture since 1947 when my grandfather started professional gardening after the second world war. In fact he was really involved before the war when he was working in commercial greenhouses, but the exact history pre war is sketchy. We have been making a living from horticulture ever since. On the other side of the family they were and still are farmers. I guess I was always going to end up working outside!

1947
Grandad continues gardening after WW11
My Grandfather RF Tuttle starts working as a gardener on a local estate.

1977
I had my first job with the Council in the summer holidays
In at the deep end at 16 years old!

1991
Started my first gardening company
After working for a few local landscape companies I finally decided to go it alone. After a couple of years I started employing people. I grew to 4/5 full-time employees and continued like this for the next decade

2016
Housing Association market starts to amalgamate contracts in to multi-million pound contracts
Our main contracts get taken by multinational companies. We have to lay off employees. We have enough big private jobs to survive on our own.

2020
Find we are enjoying the simpler company set up!
The stress of employees is off and we can now concentrate on enjoying why I set the company up in the first place-gardening!
